1. Who We Are

AniSnap ("we", "our", "us") provides a web application at ani-snap.com and an optional browser extension ("AniSnap Source Capture") that helps users track their anime and manga reading/watching progress.

2. What the Browser Extension Does

The AniSnap Source Capture browser extension runs on web pages you visit to detect whether the page is an anime or manga content page. When detected, it displays a button that lets you log your progress to your AniSnap account.

The extension requires broad host access (<all_urls>) because anime and manga content is spread across thousands of websites and mirror domains — it is not possible to enumerate every site in advance. The extension only activates its UI on pages it identifies as relevant anime/manga content.

3. Data Collected by the Extension

The extension reads the following information from pages you visit only when you click the tracking button:

• Page URL (to identify the source site)
• Series title (extracted from the page)
• Cover image URL (extracted from page metadata)
• Episode or chapter number (extracted from the URL or page)

This information is sent to AniSnap's servers solely to update your watchlist/readlist. It is never collected passively in the background.

The extension also stores your AniSnap authentication token in Chrome's local extension storage (chrome.storage.local) so you do not need to log in repeatedly. This token never leaves your device except when making authenticated requests to AniSnap's own API.

4. Data Collected by the Web App

When you use ani-snap.com, we collect:

• Account information: email address and display name (via Google sign-in or email/password)
• Watchlist / readlist data: the anime and manga series you add, along with your progress (episode/chapter numbers)
• Usage data: anonymised analytics to understand feature usage (no personal identifiers)

All data is stored in Google Firebase (Firestore and Firebase Authentication), which is subject to Google's privacy policy.

5. How We Use Your Data

• To provide and operate the AniSnap service
• To sync your watchlist/readlist across devices
• To display your progress history
• To improve the service through aggregated analytics

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose not listed above.

6. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties, except:

• Google Firebase – our hosting and database provider
• Legal requirements – if required by law or to protect our rights

7. Data Retention & Deletion

Your data is retained for as long as your account exists. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from the Settings page. After deletion, data is permanently removed within 30 days.

8. Security

All data in transit is encrypted via HTTPS. Authentication tokens are stored in Chrome's sandboxed extension storage and are not accessible to web pages. We follow security best practices and conduct regular reviews.

9. Children's Privacy

AniSnap is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of AniSnap after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
